Method for PID-tuning via feedback control system pole placement

Pole placement is the only PID-tuning technic that allows one to obtain a control system with desired, and, moreover, highly predictable performance and quality. Number of controller tuning parameters equal number poles closed-loop it can precicely place, so PID-controller place exactly three poles, PI- two. For this reason PI-controller best used first-order processes (second-order closed loop system), second-orded ones (third-order system). However, many have higher order than two, still are controlled PID-controllers. To tune using pole techniques, necessary consider dominant which affect greatest extent. First, study second-order process, most basic case. Tuning performed global optimization methods fit tuned reference system.
